🎯 Diffraction Spike Mask for Refractors – Astrophotography Use
This diffraction spike mask is designed for astrophotography use only. It intentionally creates optical diffraction to generate diffraction spikes on stars during image acquisition.
The mask fits directly onto the front of the refractor tube and delivers a clean, centered and repeatable result, unlike improvised solutions such as fishing line crosses, which are often poorly centered and inconsistent.
✅ Designed to:
- Create fine and well-centered diffraction spikes on stars
- Provide a consistent and repeatable visual result
- Eliminate DIY solutions (fishing line, tape, etc.)
🔧 Operating principle
The central cross generates controlled diffraction. With a deliberately thin design (1 mm thick arms and approximately 3 mm in height), the resulting diffraction remains fine and discreet, ideal for a clean astrophotography aesthetic.
🧵 Manufacturing and quality
- 3D printed in PETG, resistant to humidity and temperature variations
- Custom-designed for a precise slip-on fit on the refractor
- Simple and fast installation in the field
💡 Good to know: This mask is available for many refractor models on the market.
Simply select your telescope model using the drop-down list when ordering — each version is matched to the corresponding tube diameter.
📦 Package contents
- 1 diffraction spike mask (model selected via drop-down list)
- Ready-to-use product
Each part is carefully manufactured in our workshop and visually inspected before shipping.
⚠️ Important: the central cross is intentionally very thin to achieve elegant diffraction spikes. It may be fragile if subjected to shocks, bending or excessive pressure.
Handle with care and store properly when not in use.
