When taking flat frames, the Askar FRA400 telescope is often placed vertically, with a flat panel resting directly on the dew shield. In this configuration, the absence of a factory locking screw frequently causes the dew shield to slide down to its mechanical stop, making the process inconvenient and unreliable.
This dedicated locking ring was designed to solve this very common issue faced by astrophotographers.
The ring opens to be installed directly around the telescope tube, just below the dew shield. Once in place, it is secured using a knurled thumbscrew, allowing the ring to be tightened against the tube without marking or damaging it.
The result is straightforward: the dew shield rests against the ring and can no longer slide, even when the telescope is positioned perfectly vertical.
Each part is designed, printed and carefully inspected in our workshop before shipping.
